PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, Susan E. Koperwhats has announced her retirement after twenty-three years of service to Sterling House Community Center; and

WHEREAS, Susan E. Koperwhats joined the Sterling House staff in 1986 as an athletic director and organized teams and leagues serving over 2,000 children; and

WHEREAS, Susan E. Koperwhats co-authored a pamphlet, “Stratford Youth Sports are Fun,” containing guidelines on sportsmanship and acceptable behavior for coaches, parents and participating youths; and

WHEREAS, Susan E. Koperwhats took on the role of Director of Special Events, assisting the Executive Director with the overall special events and fundraising program plans of the Sterling House Community Center; and

WHEREAS, Susan E. Koperwhats was instrumental in organizing the Sterling Classic Golf Tournament, Mistletoe Mansion Silent Auction, Debbie Diaz Awards, Sterling House Toy Drive, Adopt-A-Family Program, Volunteer Dinner and Recognition Reception, Flea Market, Crisis in the Community Support, Stratford Day and the Christmas Tree Sale.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, James R. Miron, Mayor, do hereby proclaim January 27, 2009 SUSAN E. KOPERWHATS DAY
in the Town of Stratford and invite all members of the community to join me in thanking her for her exemplary service and in wishing her much happiness and health throughout her retirement.
