All program registrations take place at the Recreation Office at Short Beach Park unless noted in the description. All Programs Subject To Change. Non-residents may take particular classes for an additional $5 fee.

Toddler & Pre School & Explorer Programs

If school is cancelled, preschool, and toddler classes are cancelled.  If school is delayed, morning classes are cancelled but classes beginning at noon or later will take place.  If schools have early dismissal, am classes will be held but classes at noon or later will be cancelled.

 

Toddler Open Gym          419360          Section 61,62,65, 66, 67, 68

This is an 8-week open gym program for toddlers and preschoolers ages 1-4, and their caregivers on Thursdays. The gym will be open for them to explore, play ball games, crawl through tunnels, run, parachute play, jump and make new friends. A caregiver must remain with the child.  A Recreation Department certified staff member will be the facilitator.  Registration is for one time slot. Session I is January 21 – March 18 with 3 time frames: 9:00-10:00am, 10:15-11:15am, or 1:00-2:00pm at Birdseye Complex. The afternoon session is for ages 3-6. Registration is January 4-January 20.   Session II is April 8 – June 3.  Registration is March 22-April 2.   Fee is $45 per session.  Class limit is 15.

Creative Cooking              514460          Section 31, 32

This is a hands-on, no-heat cooking class for preschoolers and their caregivers on Mondays.  Children will measure, mix, count and create edible projects.  Class will also have story time and singing.  Discover the fun in cooking with your child.  Program is designed for children ages 3-5 years old.  The 8-week class is January 25 – March 22 at South End Community Center from 10:45-11:30am.  Registration is January 4-22.  The spring session will be April 19 – June 14 with registration March 22-April 16.  Class limit is eight. The fee is $60 per child and includes all supplies. 

Music and Movement Exploration                 419360          Section 32, 34

A musically delightful class for a child and their caregiver, which involves sing-a-long songs, finger rhymes, keeping beats, musical stories, movement, instrument play, parachutes, scarves and an open gym time.  This class will be a fun time for parents and children 1.5-4 years old, which meets on Wednesdays from 9:30-10:15am at the Birdseye Complex Gymnasium.  Session I is Jan. 20 – March 17.  Registration is January 4-15.  Session II will be April 7– June 2, with registration March 15– April 2.   Fee is $45 for the 8-week class.  Caregiver participation is required and there is a limit of 15 children.

A playgroup for children ages 2-3 and their caregivers designed in a preschool setting. Children will explore through centers, do craft projects, participate in large motor skill activities, circle time, stories and other various activities. Class is for 8 sessions held at the South End Community Center on Fridays from 9:30-10:30amThe cost is $40.  Registration is January 4-January 15. Classes begin January 22.  Second session begins April 23 with registration April 5-16.

Sports Sampler for Tiny Tots Class                   419360     Section 28

This is a fun-filled fitness class designed to encourage physical activity, increase motor skills and have fun while playing different sports.  Sports will include soccer, t-ball and gymnastics.  Program is designed for children 3-5 years old.  Class is held at the South End Community Center on Tuesdays from 9:30-10:15am January 26 – March 23.  Registration is January 4-22. The fee is $55 per child for the 8 weeks.  Parent participation is not required but welcome.  Class is limited to 8 per class.

Story Art             419360          Section 33, 43

An arts and craft class for children ages 2-5 and their caregiver that uses a weekly theme to incorporate an age appropriate craft, books, song, parachute play, games and two age-appropriate projects that will help develop fine motor skills, creativity and social skills.  The class will be Mondays from 9:30-10:15am at the South End Community Center.  Session I is January 25 – March 22.  Registration is January 11 - 22.  Session II is April 19 – June 14, with registration March 22-April 16.  Fee is $40 for each eight-week session.  There is a limit of 12 youth per class.

Preschool Sport Camps                113080          Section 11 - 17

Preschoolers ages 3-5 will participate in the “Sport of the Week” doing drills, games, circle time with singing, craft, parachute play and snack time.  Parents supply the snack.  Camp will be Monday-Friday from 9-11:30am at Longbrook Park.  Rain location Flood School gym.

A class for ages 4-6 year olds that teaches basic soccer skills through various drills and games. This is a great physical fitness activity.  Held on Wednesdays from 5:00-5:45pm at the Birdseye Complex. The cost is $40. Class begins January 27 with registration January 4-January 22. Session II begins April 21-June 9 with registration March 8-April 16.

 

Youth Tumbling and Cheer                             419360          Section 30

A basic tumbling class for ages 4-6 held at the Birdseye Complex on Wednesday nights from 4:00-4:45pm. This program emphasizes fitness and fun in a non-competitive environment. Children will learn tumbling skills, cheers and dance steps.  Class begins January 27 with registration January 4- January 22. The cost is $40.  Session II begins April 21 with registration March 8-April 16.

Youth and Teen Programs

The program is from 3:00–4:30pm Monday – Thursday through March 25.  Children will have the opportunity to do homework, as well as activities such as games, crafts and special events.  Children will meet in the gymnasium.  Grades 3 –4 will meet on Monday and Wednesday and Grades 5 – 6 will meet on Tuesday and Thursday. There is no after school program when school is closed due to weather or on scheduled half days. This is a free program and children must be registered prior to attending. Volunteer Information for Teens

The Stratford Recreation Department is always looking for teens interested in volunteering. We accept teens in or entering grades 8-12. Our department offers a variety of programs both during the school year and summer that can utilize youth volunteers. Opportunities can involve after school sports and learning programs, special events through out the year and summer camps. We offer our volunteers First Aid &CPR training and orientation programs. Our volunteers must fill out an application at the Department and go through a screening process to determine the best fit for the volunteer and the programs. There are several benefits for youth in volunteering such as personal growth, community awareness, developing leadership skills, new friends, positive activity and community service experience for jobs, college and financial aid.

 

Teen Volunteer Connection Nights will be held at the Birdseye Complex beginning at 6:00pm on March 22 and April 8. Attend an informational meeting to find out more information and to see what opportunities are available. Light refreshments will be served.

January Sports Night For Teens

In January a sports night for teens will be held at the Birdseye Complex on Saturday January 23, from 7-9pm. Activities will include, yoga, basketball, tennis, volleyball, and dance. The event is open to all Stratford Teens. Pre-registration is required. Registration is January 4-January 20.  Refreshments will be served. The fee for this event is one can good to donate to local food pantries.

Billiards Tournament

Tournament will be held at the Baldwin Center on February 17 from 7-9pm. Registration is required. The cost is $5 per person. There will be refreshments and prizes for the winners. Registration is January 4-February 5.

Hawaiian Luau

The Luau will take place for teens at Flood Pool on February 20 from 6-9pm.  Music, swimming, and dancing will be the order of the day.  Refreshments will be served. Students are to come in their beach attire. Door prizes will be awarded. Tickets will go on sale beginning February 1 and conclude on February 17.  The cost will be $10 per person.

Battle of the Bands

Battle of the Bands will be held on Saturday April 24 from 7-10 pm.  Bands may register for the contest beginning February 8 - March 31. Each band will be required to sell tickets to the event. The band that sells the most tickets will select the spot they wish to perform. Each band will have twenty-minute slots to perform depending on the number of entries. This competition will be held at Stratford High School. Come and cheer your favorite band. Tickets are sold ahead of time. Limited sales at the door.  Great door prizes and awards.

 

K-3 After School Enrichment Program             312800          Section 43 - 48

Licensed after school enrichment program for youth in grades kindergarten through third grade. Children in the program receive on site tutoring and homework assistance, basic computer instruction as well as other educational and recreational activities and field trips. K-3 follows the Stratford Public School Calendar and operates Monday through Friday from 3-6pm. The fee is $240 per month. Daily snack is provided. Limited transportation offered from Honeyspot,Johnson Academy and Nichol;s and Wilcoxson. Enrollment ongoing limites spaces available. Program runs September 7-June 11, 2010. We are a Care for Kids provider.

Mad Science – Grades K – 6              219380          Section 12, 13, 31, 32, 41

Sleuths on the Scene

These classes that are out of this world!  Suspects, schematics and sleuths..oh my! Connect the dots using science to help solve a crime in this hands-on investigation at the science of sleuthing. The children will use the Scene Solver to reconstruct the scene of the crime. Using their Who dun it Kit   youth can practice the skills of recall and observation. They are provided with character descriptions to reconstruct the face of the suspect!  Our provided answer keys give them feedback on their skills. Classes will meet on one day a week for eight weeks from 3:15–4:15pm at local schools.  Look for flyers at your school. Cost is $120.  Need at least 12 participants in order to have the class and max enrollment is 20. Please register through January 21. Classes will start week of January 25.  The next session begins the week of March 30 with registration March 2-20.  Monday is Eli Whitney and Chapel, Tuesday is Lordship, Wednesday is Wilcoxson, Honeyspot House, and Johnson Academy.

  

Preschool and Summer Mad Science Classes              219380

Come and explore your curiosity. This summer the Mad Science will offer science adventure, creative sleuths, robotics and more.  Each session will explore different scientific components of physics, motion and physical properties.

Classes will be held from 9-12 daily at Birdseye Complex. There will be preschool classes for ages 3-5 and classes for school age children 6 and older. The weeks are as follows:

The cost is $155 for the week.  Registration will begin March 8-June 4.

The Recreation Department will offer ballet and tap dance classes on Tuesday afternoons at the Baldwin Center.  The next session will begin on Tuesday, January 19 – April 20. No class February 16 and April 13 due to school vacation.  Class times are as follows:

Preschool Summer Dance    214170  Section 60, 61 

This class is for ages 3-6 and is held at the Baldwin Center on Tuesday nights from 4-4:45 pm.  The class is a basic introduction to Ballet and Jazz dance forms. The cost is $50 for six weeks.  Session I will run from May 25 - June 29 with registration March 8-May 14. Session II will be from July 12 – August 24 with registration June 14-July 2.  

Hot Shot Finals Basketball Contest             312610          Section 02-06

The Recreation Department, in cooperation with the Connecticut Recreation and Parks Association, will sponsor the Hot Shot Finals Contest for boys and girls ages 9-15.  We will have multiple locations and times for the contest to be fit all participants’ schedules.  The winners will advance to the County Finals and then State levels of competition.  Each player will have one minute to shoot from the “hotspots” placed on the basketball court.  Starting at half court, the players dribble into shooting range and shoot from the designated spots.  The total of three one-minute rounds is added together.  The contest challenges a player’s speed, shooting, dribbling and rebounding ability.  The divisions are based on each child’s age before December 31, 2009.  A birth certificate will be required in order to participate. There is no fee for this event, but participants must be registered. Registration will be through January 22. Contest dates/times/locations are as follows:

Drills and Skills I                 514760          Section 02

This is a six-week basketball and life skills program for boys and girls in grades 2–5 and 6–8.  Participants will learn hands-on basketball drills and age-appropriate life skills on topics related to wellness and fitness, communication, setting goals, making decisions, solving problems, responsibility and leadership.  Community leaders and special presenters will also be invited as speakers on various program topics.  This program will be offered on Tuesdays, January 26 – March 9 from 6:00–7:00pm at the Birdseye Gymnasium.  Registration is January 4 – 22.  Fee is $20 for the 6-week program. 

Drills and Skills II          514760          Section 03 

This intermediate level 6-week basketball and life skills program for boys and girls in grades 2-5 and 6-8 is for those youth who have completed Drills and Skills I and are ready to move on to the next level of basketball instruction.  This program will offer more intense drills and some games for participants applying the life skills learned in Drills I to the game of basketball.  This program will be offered on Wednesdays, January 27 – March 10, from 6:00–7:30pm at the Birdseye Gymnasium.  Registration is through January 25. Fee is $25 for the six-week program.

Going Fishing               419630          Section 40

The Stratford Recreation Department and the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection Bureau of Fisheries will sponsor a Fishing Course prior to Opening Day of the fishing season.  The program will consist of basic instruction on fishing and is open to anyone interested in fishing.  There will be three classes on April 21, 27, & 29 from 6:30-8:00pm at the Birdseye Complex.  Registration is April 1 – 17.  Fee is $15.  This includes a fishing pole.

Fishing Derby                  419630          Section 44 

The Stratford Recreation Department will have a fishing derby on Saturday May 1 at 6:30-8:30 am at Brewster Pond, located at Longbrook Park. Fee is $5 and registration is required to participate. Registration will be April 5 – April 30.

Camp takes place on Staurdays at Flood Middle School Tennis Courts.  This 4 week session runs May 15-June12, no tennis on May 29.  The camp runs from 9:30-12:00pm for ages 5-9 and 10-13, the courts will be divided be age and ability.  The cost is $125 per session, with a same session family discount of $10 off per person.  Registration is April 12 - May 7. 

 

Youth Chess Club                          219300          Section 31

Open to youth in grades 2-8.  The program will be on Thursdays, January 28 – April 8 at Birdseye Municipal Complex from 6:30-7:30pm.  During the 10-week program, the students will play chess, and matches will be arranged.  Parent volunteers are needed.  Registration is January 4 - 21 Fee is $35.

 

SCHOOL VACATION WEEK SPECIALS

 

K-3 Vacation Day Camp:  Martin Luther King Jr. Day          419360          Section 14, 21

The South End Community Center will be offering a vacation day camp for children in grades K-3 on Monday, January 18.  Participants will be led in educational and recreational activities focusing on cooperation, inclusion and respect.  Children must bring a lunch but a nutritional snack will be provided.  Program runs from 9:00am-3:00pm for the core program.  The fee is $25.  Extended hours will be offered for 10 or more children from 3:00-5:30pm for an additional $10.  Registration is Dec. 14 – Jan. 13.

Winter Vacation Camp (February 16 – February 19)          419360          Section  70, 71

The South End Community Center will be offering a winter vacation camp for children in grades K-3.  Children will take part in recreational and educational activities based around a winter theme.  Children must bring a lunch each day but a nutritional snack is provided.  Program runs daily from 9:00am-4:00pm for $100.  An extended day will be offered with a minimum of 10 children from 4:00-6:00pm for an additional $30.  Sibling discounts are available at $75 for the second and third child only for the core program and $15 for extended day for second and third child.  Registration is December 14 – February 5.

Winter Vacation Basketball Camp                312600          Section 11

There will be Girls Basketball Camp on February 17, 18 & 19 at the Flood Middle School for grades 1–6 from 9:00am–12:00pm.  Groups will be divided into grades 1 – 3 and grades 4 – 6.  Registration is December 10 – February 8 and space is limited.  Fee is $50.  There will be swimming after camp each day if pool is available. 

School Vacation Open Swims - February 16-18 & April 13-15

During these weeks the Flood Pool will be open from 1-3 for open swims on Tuesday-Thursday.  The cost is $1.00 for children and $2.00 for adults per swim.

Winter Vacation Rec Center Schedule: February 16-18

Birdseye Complex will be open Tuesday through Friday from 3-5 pm for middle school youth and Wednesday and Thursday nights from 6-8pm for high school youth.

April Vacation Sport Camp                  413110          Section 43, 44

During the April 12-16 school vacation a camp will be held at the Birdseye Complex.  This camp will be from 9:00am–4:00pm.  Fee is $120.  Sibling discounts are available at $60 each for the second and third child.  Extended day will be offered with a minimum of ten children from 4:00-6:00pm for an additional $30 each child for the week, and only $15 per week for extended day for second and third child.  During the camp we will be spending some time each day doing the Quickstart Tennis program which will teach the children fundamentals of tennis. Registration is February 1-April 1.

 

 

 

 

BIRTHDAY PARTIES

Stratford Recreation Department offers a variety of themed birthday parties.  The Department has Gymnastics, Karate, Flood Pool Parties and Gym parties

Gymnastics Birthday Parties

Come tumble into fun with a gymnastics party.  The parties are held on Saturday afternoon at Flood School.  The cost is $90.  The parties are for ages 4-6 with a maximum of 8 children and for ages 7-9 for a maximum of 10 children.  Party is 1 hour of gymnastics and fitness and 45 minutes in the cafeteria.  Call the Recreation Office for reservations.  A certified instructor will coach the party. Additional 8 children may be added for $25 fee.

Karate Birthday Parties

The parties are held on Saturdays from 11-1 or 1-3 pm at Flood School.  The cost is $75 for 1 ½ hr party for up to 25 children.  Call the Recreation Office for reservations and to set up dates and times.  A certified instructor offers program.

Flood Pool Parties

These are held on Saturdays during open swims from 2-3 pm or 3-4 pm.  Cost is $25 plus $1.00 per child.  If there is 20-35 youth an additional $25 is required.  An adult must accompany children who cannot swim.  Set up for the party is 15 minutes prior to the start.  Cafeteria time is 45 minutes. 

Gym Parties

We offer a fun and exciting way to celebrate your child’s birthday, with our sport themed parties. Let us organize your unique party with a choice of sport or activity. Some examples are soccer, kickball, basketball, dodgeball, capture the flag and relay races. These private parties are held at the Birdseye Complex on Saturdays. The times are May- December from 1:00-2:45 and from January-April from 5:00-6:45pm.  Games and activities will be for 1 hour and 45 minutes are for the party portion in the cafeteria. There is no double booking. Fee for party is $75 for up to 19 children. Up to 30 children may be added for an additional fee of $25.

 

Dance Parties

Dance your way into an enjoyable party with our dance staff. Parties will include 45 minutes of dance and movement and 45 minutes worth of party and cake time. Wonderful for children ages 5-9. They may choose jazz, ballet or hip-hop. Cost is $80 for up to 12 children.

Toddler Parties

Come play with us. Enjoy your toddler’s birthday and let them play in a big open space. Each open gym party features open gym time to explore, run, jump, climb and play with various balls. At the end, the children will have circle time with parachute and songs. Limit is 16 children. These private parties are held on Saturday afternoons at Birdseye Complex for ages 1-5.  Activities will be held for the 45 minutes and then party session in cafeteria for 45 minutes.  Fee is $80. Additional 9 children may be added for $25. Parent participation is helpful.

Cheer/Tumbling Parties

Two, four, six, eight. This party will be really great. Children will participate in learning cheers, basic tumbling skills and dance moves at our party. Parties include 45 minutes of instruction and 45 minutes of party and cake time. Cost is $80 for up to 12 children. An additional 6 kids may be added for a $25 fee. Parties held at Birdseye Complex or Flood on Saturdays.

Miniature Train Museum Parties

These Birthday Parties are held at the Miniature Train Museum at Boothe Memorial Park. They are held only from May to the end of NovemberThe group will tour the museum from 2-3 pm and the party portion will be held upstairs in the Dining Hall from 3-3:45 pm.  The fee is $80.  Parties are limited to 20.

 

Moonbounce Party

Bounce into fun at our newest party theme. This private party features an inflatable moonbounce along with open gym time. The bouncing and activities will be held for 1 hour and cafe time is 45 minutes. Parties are held at the Birdseye Complex on Saturdays. Cost is $110 for up to 19 kids.  Additional 9 children may be added for $25. Great for kids ages 2-11.

Classes for each age group will meet once a week during which the participants will be taught the fundamentals, rules and etiquette of golf along with a curriculum of life skills.  Session I is on Tuesdays April 27- June 8 from 4:00–5:00pm for ages 8 – 10, and 5:30-6:30 for ages 11-16.  Classes are also on Wednesdays April 28– June 9 from 4:00–5:00pm for ages 8-10 and 5:30-6:30 for ages 11-16.   Fee is $35 for seven weeks.

Session II is June 22-August 8 on Tuesdays for ages 8-10 from 4-5 :00 and for ages 11-16 from 5:30-6:30pm.  Class is also on Wednesday for ages 8-10 from 4-5:00 and ages 11-16 from 5:30-6:30pm. Fee is $35 for seven weeks.

Brakettes Girls’ Youth Softball Clinic                             412190          Section 01

This instructional clinic will be offered by the Stratford Brakettes for ages 5-15.  The clinics meet on Mondays and Wednesdays at Longbrook Park from 6:00-7:30pm.  The fee is $75, which includes a hat and a T-shirt.  Registration begins March 6 and continues at Longbrook Park on June 7, 9, 14, 16.  Program runs through July 28.

Drills & Skills Summer Basketball League           112650          Section 01

This league will be a continuation of the Drills & Skills program we have during the year. It will be for youth in grades 1–8, who live in the Town of Stratford.  The league will have Drills & Skills on Mondays and games on Wednesday at the Birdseye Complex Gymnasium from 6:00-8:00pm.  The fee is $15 and includes a t-shirt.  League will run June 28 – Aug. 6. Registration for this program is March 6 – June 25.  If  there are enough Girls a separate league will be formed. Girls will practice on Tuesday and play games on Thursdays.

Camp will take place June 28-July 2, July 12-July 16, July 19-23, July 26-30, August 2-6, August 9-13 and August 16-20.  Each week will involve different outdoor adventures from 9:00am–3:00pm. Some places will be visiting are Discovery Park, CT Rock Gym, Mystic Aquarium, Lake Compounce, Coco Key, Six Flags, NY Mets Stadium, and NY Yankees Stadium. A permanent schedule can be picked up at the Recreation Office in January or found on our website. Extended hours will be at the Birdseye Complex from 7:00–9:00am and 3:00–5:00pm.  Registration begins March 6 from 10:00am-12:00pm and will continue until full.  Camp is limited to 15 campers per week.  The fee is $225.  Extended hours are available at $30 for am hours and $30 for pm hours per week, per child.  A parents meeting will be held on Thursday June 3 at 6:00 pm at the Birdseye Complex.  No Camp the week of July 5.

A day camp program is offered for youth ages 8-14 at Birdseye Community Center.  The camp will run June 28- August 6.  The program will operate from 9:00am-4:00pm, with extended hours from 7:00-9:00am and from 4-6:00pm.  The fee is $150 per week; second child is $75 and third child is $60.  Extended hours are $30 for am and $30 for pm per week per child.  Registration will begin on Saturday March 6 from 10:00am-12:00pm at the Recreation Office at Short Beach.  No mail-in registration will be accepted.  Space is limited.  A parents’ meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 2 at 7:00pm at the Birdseye Complex.

Playgrounds               113871          Section 11-16

The six town playgrounds will be open Monday through Friday, June 28 - August 13 from 8:00am-3:00pm.  Playground counselors will be assigned to playgrounds to maintain a 1 to 15 ratio.  Youth will have to sign in and out.  Boys and girls, ages 5-15, may register at the Recreation Office at Short Beach Park from March 6 through June 30.  There is no program on July 5.  There is a $5 registration fee that includes a T- shirt.  Register for one of the following playgrounds:

Honeyspot House, Wilcoxson, Second Hill Lane, Franklin, Eli Whitney and Short Beach. Activities include:  Arts and crafts, sports, Flood Pool trips, trips, games.  There are charges for some activities at the playgrounds. There are additional fees for certain trips and crafts.

This is not a day camp program - the youth are free to sign themselves out at any time and leave the program. A parents informational meeting will take place June 3 at 7pm at the Baldwin Center.  The following trips are tentatively scheduled with registration beginning June 1 until filled:

Playground Carnival

The carnival will benefit a local charity.  Rides, games, and special activities are at Boothe Memorial Park for a day of fun.  The date is August 4 with a raindate of August 5.  Admission is $1.

Summer Learning Camp                  113560          Section 01 - Program Cancelled

For learning disabled children, ages 7-12, currently enrolled in a Stratford School system resource room.  This is a six week program held at Birdseye Complex from 9:00am-3:00pm.  Registration will be at the Recreation Office at Short Beach beginning March 6 from 10:00am-12:00 through June 18.  A parents’ meeting will be held at the Birdseye Complex June 9 at 6:30pm.  The camp runs from June 28-August 6.  Fee is $100 for the summer.  The Camp is limited to 20 children.

A two-week day camp program is offered for youth age 8-14 at Flood School.  The camp will be August 9 -August 20, 9:00am-4:00pm, with extended hours available.  The extended hours are from 7:00-9:00am, and from 4:00-6:00pm.  The registration for camp will be March 6-July 2, or until full. The fee is $150 per week; second child is $75 and the third child is $60.  Extended hours are $30 each time per week.  Parents must register at the Recreation Office or the special registration on Saturday March 6 from 10:00am-12:00pm at the Recreation Office at Short Beach. The program will run August 23-August 27 for ages 5-13.  It will be based at the Birdseye Complex.  Each day the young travelers will visit a different place.  Trips planned are CT Rock Gym, Lake Compounce, Quazzy Amusement Park, Hartford Science Center and Roller Skating.  These trips are tentative.  The hours will be 9:00am-3:00pm daily and the fee is $175.  Second child is $85 and third child is $70.  Registration is at the Recreation office at Short Beach March 6-July 31.  A parent meeting will be held Wednesday, August 11 at 7:00pm at the Birdseye Complex.  Extended hours will be available if ten or more people sign up.

The only summer camp truly dedicated to sports-minded youth ages 5 – 14, Monday – Friday at Short Beach Park, July 19 – July 23 and August 9 – 13.  Campers will experience over 15 different sports from around the world with the US Sports Institute, promoting good sportsmanship, teamwork and most of all fun. Technical instruction and realistic game situations offered in Athletics, Bocce, Cricket, Football, Handball, Lacrosse, Netball, Rugby, Soccer, Volleyball, World Cup and more.  T-shirts and certificates included.  Ages 5 – 7 meet 9:00am–1:00pm; Ages 7 – 14 meet 9:00am–3:00pm. (Friday classes end at 1:00pm).  Fee for 9:00am–1:00pm session is $149.  Fee for the 9:00am–3:00pm session is $169.  Class size is limited.  Extended hours are available.  Registration is March 6 – July 9.

Sport Squirts Mini – Sport Camp          113930          Section 21, 22

The US Sports Institute Sport Squirts program is a great way to introduce children aged 3 – 5 to a variety of sports such as Soccer, T- ball, Basketball and Hockey all taking place in a structured environment to ensure safe learning.  Activities are designed to evoke a child’s imagination in which they can find Nemo, send Shrek into a spin or capture Jellyfish with Sponge Bob Square Pants.  All activities promote hand-eyed coordination, movement and balance and most importantly Fun, Fun, Fun.  The camp will take place at Short Beach Park from 4:00-5:30pm.  Session I is July 19– July 23 and Session II is August 9–13.  Fee for each session is $89.  Registration is March 6- July 9.

Skyhawks Match Point Sports Camp                  113930          Sections 29-32

Skyhawks Soccer camp is for youth focusing on having fun, being safe and reinforcing skills taught at skills based camps. This camp will offer soccer related skills, games and scrimmages while providing opportunities to understand the basics and enjoy the sport. Cost is $75.  Program dates are June 28-July 2 for grades 2-8 from 12:30-3pm Monday-Friday.

 

Mini -Hawk 

This multi sport program was developed to give 4-7 year olds a positive first step into athletics. Baseball, basketball and soccer are taught in a safe structured environment filled with encouragement and fun. Through games and activities campers will explore balance, hand/eye coordination and skill. Cost is $75.  Program is June 28-July 1 (Soccer, Basketball and T-Ball) from 5-7pm.  There is no camp on Friday.

 

Flag Football

Skyhawks Flag Football is the perfect introduction to America’s Game for those who want to brush up on their skills preparing for league play. Through our skill of the day campers will learn skills on both sides of the ball including the core components of passing, catching and deflagging or defensive positioning.   Cost is $75.  The program is July 12-15 for ages 7-12 from 6-8pm (Camp is Monday –Thursday.  Friday will be a rain make up.)
