All program registrations take place at the Recreation Office at Short Beach Park unless noted in the description. All Programs Subject To Change. Non residents may take particular classes at an additional $5 fee.
Adults are now $2 per swim and youth under 18 and senior citizens 65 and over are $1.

Water Safety and Education
Swimming instructions in all levels of swimming will be offered for all ages at Flood Pool. Fee per session is $25 for half hour lessons and $30 for hour lessons. Registration is at the Recreation Office at Short Beach Park. All Levels and Parent & Tot class registration is also online. Click on Program Registration on the home page. You must have a user id and password which you can obtain by calling the Recreation Office at 385-4052.

Summer Flood Pool Swim Lessons - 511260 Section 01-20
Registration at Recreation Dept Office at Short Beach Park for first session or online starting at 6:00 pm. User name and password required. Contact the office at 385-4052.
Fee per session is $25 for half hour lessons and $30 for hour lessons. No mail-in registrations will be accepted. Wait List registration only will be accepted on the first day of class.

Beach Lifeguards at Short and Long Beach
Short and Long Beach will have lifeguards on duty daily from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. beginning June through Labor Day.
To insure the safety of all who attend our beaches several rules must be adhered to:
- Swimming is permitted in patrolled areas only
- No floatation devices are permitted on the beaches
- No swimming in the channel is allowed
- Pets and glass bottles are not allowed
- Bathing suits are required.
- No Boats or Windsurfers are allowed in patrolled areas
Swim Lessons at Comfort Suites 211270-Section 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29
The Department is working in cooperation with Comfort Suites to offer swim lessons for preschoolers and Red Cross Level 1 lessons. Lessons are on Monday and Wednesday beginning September 13 from 2-4 pm. Registration is August 30-September 10. Second session is October 25-November 29 with registration October 12-22. Fee is $30. No class on October 11, November 24.
Adult Intermediate Swim Lessons 211270-Section 93 & 94
These lessons are designed for adults who have minimal or no swimming experience. Class is on Monday and Wednesdays from September 13-October 18 from 8:00-8:30 pm. Registration is August 30-September 8. Fee is $30. A second session is November 1-December 6 with registration October 18-26.
Aquarobics 541180-Section 01
Aquarobics, a low impact class will be held on Monday and Wednesday nights at Flood Pool from 8:15-9:00 pm beginning August 25 – October 27. The classes run for 8 weeks with registration beginning August 2-20. Class size is limited. Fee is $60 for sixteen classes. The next session is November 1 –January 5, with registration October 4-22. No class on November 17, November 24, December 27 & 29.
Aqua Zumba 541180 – Section 11
This energetic class uses Latin and International music modified and adapted to the aquatic environment without losing the basic identity and flavor that makes a Zumba class so much fun on land. Aqua Zumba means move fast and have fun in the water! No swimming skills required. Bring water and water shoes to class. Classes will take place Thursdays, 7:30-8:30pm at Flood Pool, beginning September 16 – November 4. November 18 will be a make-up class, if needed. Fee is $60. There will be a Drop-In rate of $10/class. Registration is ongoing through September 10.
Therapeutic Swim
This program is cancelled if school is cancelled. If school is delayed this program is cancelled.
The therapeutic swim is Wednesday and Friday mornings at the Ella Grasso Center for Stratford residents only from 10:30-11:30 am and 11:30 am-12:30 pm. Swimmers must have a doctor’s note and clearance to swim. Swim passes good for ten swims are available at the Recreation Office for $10. Program is closed September 1 and 3 and starts again September 8. Call the office for more information.
Flood Pool is handicapped accessible with a hydraulic lift chair.

The Recreation Department will plan with the school group, a fun night of swimming, sports and games at Flood School. Open to all schools. Call 385-4052 for information.
Longbrook Wading Pool
Open daily from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. for boys and girls up to age 9 beginning July 4 through Labor Day. THE POOL IS CLOSED FROM 1 - 1:30 PM FOR LUNCH
