All program registrations take place at the Recreation Office at Birdseye Complex unless noted in the description. All Programs Subject To Change.
Adults are now $2 per swim and youth under 18 and senior citizens 65 and over are $1.

Flood Pool is handicapped accessible with a hydraulic lift chair. For additional information call the Recreation office. Flood Pool is available to rent for Birthday Parties. Call 385-4052 for information.

Lessons are for ages 4-18. Fee is $45 for ½ hour classes (levels 1-3), and $50 for 1-hour classes (levels 4-6), with 8 lessons per session although we schedule 10 lessons in case the Town has to cancel. We do not issue refunds for missed lessons without a doctor’s note. Classes cancelled by the Recreation Department will be made up at the end.

Flicks at Flood Pool
We will be showing a movie while you swim on Fridays January 19, February 16, March 16, April 20, and May 18 at 6:15 pm. Open Swim fee will be charged, free for spectators in the bleachers. Movie to be announced but will be appropriate for all ages.
Red Cross Lifesaving Class 541570 Section 21
The course will be on Saturdays from 12-5 pm beginning January 13-February 17. The fee for the 30-hour class is $250 and will be held at Flood Pool. Participants will be provided the books and their own pocket mask. Registration is through January 5. We must have 6 participants to offer the class.

Aquarobics 541180 Section 03, 01, 06
A low-impact aerobic class performed in shoulder-depth water on Monday and Wednesday evenings at Flood Pool at 8:00 – 8:45pm. The session is 16 classes for 45-minutes and is for adults only. Class size is limited. The fee is $70. The winter session will start Jan 8 – Mar 7. The registration begins Dec 18 – Jan 7. The spring session will be Mar 26 – May 16. Registration begins Mar 5 - Mar 23. The summer session will start Jun 4 – July 30. Registration begins May 9 – Jun 1.
Winter Swim Team 111710 Section 03
A winter swim team for ages 8-16 will be offered beginning January 16-March 22 at Flood Pool from 7:30-8:30 pm. Practices will be Tuesday, and Thursday. Swim meets will be announced. The fee is $150. Registration is through January 10.
Summer Swim Team 111710 Section 01
A summer swim team for ages 8-16 will be offered on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday beginning June 25 at Flood Pool from 7:30-8:45 am. Practices are through August 2. Swim meets will be announced. The fee is $150. Registration begins March 26.
Summer Flood Pool Lessons 211260
Swimming instruction in all levels of swimming will be offered for all ages. Registration for Session I only will begin March 26 through June 21. This session will run June 25 - July 6 (no class on July 4). Session II will run July 9-July 19 with registration 6-7 pm on July 5 at Birdseye Complex or online through July 7. Session III will be July 23 – August 2 with registration 6:00-7:00pm on July 19 at Birdseye Complex or online through July 21. Fee per session is $45 for half hour lessons and $50 for hour lessons. No mail-in registrations will be accepted. Wait List registration only will be accepted on the first day of class.
Evening Summer Swim Lessons 211260
Evening lessons will be offered on Monday and Wednesday from 6:00-8:00pm. The session is June 25-July 30. Registration is June 12 at Birdseye Complex from 6:00-7:00pm or online through June 20. Fee is $45 for half hour lessons and $50 for hour lessons. No mail-in registrations will be accepted.
Short and Long Beach will have lifeguards on duty daily from 10:00am-4:30pm beginning June 16 through Labor Day, unless posted.
To insure the safety of all who attend our beaches, several rules must be adhered to:
Swimming is permitted in patrolled areas only.
No floatation devices are permitted on the beaches.
No swimming in the channel at Short Beach is allowed.
Pets and glass are not allowed.
Bathing suits are required.
No boats or windsurfers are allowed in patrolled areas.
No climbing on rocks.
No rock throwing.
No kite flying on beach.
The Town of Stratford has two Rover wheelchairs for use in the water and on the beach at Short Beach Park. The chairs are available for adults and children. Another adult over the age of 18 years old must accompany individuals while using the wheelchair. They are canvas and stainless steel and an umbrella is advisable. They are to be used on the deck and the sand and may go into the water up to the middle of the wheel.
THE WHEELCHAIRS ARE AVAILABLE FOR USE BY ANY INDIVIDUAL WITH MOBILITY IMPAIRMENT. Individuals must reserve the chair at least 24 hours in advance. The chairs may be reserved between the hours of 10:00am-4:30pm at Short Beach only. They are available June 16 through Labor Day. Individuals may reserve the chairs through the Recreation Department Office by calling (203) 385-4052 at least 24 hours in advance.
