Movie Night at Paradise Green is Wednesday June 21 with the movie Sing at 8:30 pm.  At 7:30 pm, we will have a moon bounce and the Shriner's Clowns making Balloon Sculptures for the kids. 

Lifeguards are on duty at Short and Long Beach beginning June 17 from 10-4:30 pm daily.

New resident beach stickers will be issued in your June 2017 motor vehicle tax bill and are valid through June 30, 2019. Beach Stickers for non-residents are $150/season or $20/day for Long Beach and Short Beach. For those residents with new cars or leased vehicles, a car registration or tax bill and a driver’s license must be shown to obtain the stickers at the Recreation Office at Birdseye Complex. For your convenience the Recreation Department Office will be open at Birdseye Complex on Saturdays beginning April 22-September 30 from 8-2 pm. The office will also be open on Sundays July 2, 9 and 16 from 8-2 pm. Resident cars without stickers will be charged the parking fee.  Current stickers(expires June 2017) will be accepted through July 16.

Summer Evening Swim Lesson Registration is Tuesday June 21 from 6-7 pm at the Recreation Department office and online starting June 21 at 6:00 pm through June 23.  Lessons are Monday and Wednesday from 6-8 pm offering various levels of Red Cross lessons.

Flood Pool Closed June 30 (Fireworks Night).

 The Connecticut Symphonic Band is featured at Paradise Green on Tuesday June 27 at 7:00 pm. Rain date is Thursday June 29.

Summer Day Swim Lesson Registration is Monday June 19 from 6-7 pm at the Recreation Department office and online starting June 19 at 6:00 pm through June 22 at 6:00 pm.  The session runs from June 26-July 7 with no class on July 4.  Classes are held throughout the day for various levels of Red Cross lessons from 9-4pm.


The mission of the Recreation Department is to provide quality, affordable recreational services to enable the entire community to utilize their leisure time, and to enhance the quality of life. We provide individuals with facilities and programs through which they have an opportunity for social interaction, to improve their physical conditioning, to develop new skills, and to enjoy safe, wholesome, and satisfying activities. We also establish cooperation with community and area agencies to complement, or supplement their services.
The Department reserves the picnic pavilions at Short Beach beginning March 1 and Boothe Park as well as the Boothe Park Dining Hall.

Recreation Department offices are closed  Monday December 25, Monday January 2, Monday January 16, Monday February 13, Monday February 20, Friday April 14, Monday May 29, Tuesday July 4, and Monday September 4.

The Stratford Recreation Department staff is certified in CPR and first aid.

All Recreation Department programs are open to everyone in Town. Any individuals with a disability who need special assistance to participate in the programs should contact the Recreation Office.
