Tax Collector's Office

The Tax Collector's Office provides billing and collection of real estate, personal property, and motor vehicle taxes; sewer use charges and special assessment billings. The Tax Office is also responsible for processing all town revenue. Taxes are collected semi-annually on real estate, motor vehicles, personal property and residential and commercial sewer use.


The Town of Stratford will once again be providing tax relief to residents impacted by the COVID-19 public health emergency through participation in a program administered through the State’s Office of Policy and Management (OPM). The program allows for a 90-day deferment of any taxes on real property, personal property, motor vehicles, and municipal sewer charges from the day they are due.

As with the previous deferment in the spring, those eligible for the deferment will need to document and attest to significant economic impact due to the impact of COVID, and the Town will follow the guidance of OPM as to the criteria for eligibility. The deadline for applying is February 1, 2021.
