Tax Collector's Office

The Tax Collectors Office provides billing and collection of real estate, personal property, and motor vehicle taxes; sewer use charges and special assessment billings. The Tax Office is also responsible for processing all town revenue. Taxes are billed and collected semi-annually on real estate, motor vehicles, personal property and residential and commercial sewer use.

     The Town Council has yet to approve a budget. However the Mayor has authorized the issuance of tax bills pursuant to Connecticut Statute, Town Charter and Connecticut common law to avoid a shutdown and allow the Town to continue to provide services.

     Tax bills for real estate and personal property, and bills for sewer use fees have been generated and should be arriving in your mailboxes on or about July 15, 2017. These bills will be due July 15, 2017 and allow for payment on or before August 15, 2017 to avoid late fees and interest.

     Should the Town Council adopt a budget prior to December 1, 2017, an adjustment will be made on the your second half payment that is due January 1, 2018

     Tax bills for motor vehicles have not been generated, due to the issues with the State of Connecticut not determining a rate for motor vehicles. Once the state completes their duties, motor vehicle tax bills will be issued, and you will have 30 days from the due date to pay without interest.

     As a result of motor vehicle tax bills not being issued, beach stickers have not been mailed. Therefore the beach sticker that expired June 30, 2017 is still valid and will be until the Motor Vehicle tax bills are issued.
