      PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT AT STRATFORD LIBRARY

      Stratford’s Janice Pavlides To Display Work Through April

           Photography by Stratford’s Janice Pavlides will be the March/April 2017 art exhibit at the Stratford Library. It is the first appearance of Pavlides’ work at the library. The exhibit, entitled “Angel Eyes Studio”, is free and open to the public.

           Janice Pavlides is a photographer and designer, and the founder of Angel Eyes Studio. Since she was a child she has had a love of nature, exploration, and discovery. Janice has lived in Maryland, Virginia, Sweden, England, New York and currently resides in Stratford. She graduated from The Catholic University of America where she was a staff photographer and photo editor for their newspaper, The Tower. Angel Eyes Studio was launched in 2007. Janice and her team work closely with their clients to create custom products that showcase the client's style and talents.

           Viewing hours for the “Angel Eyes Studio” art exhibit are: Monday-Thursday: 10-8 and Friday-Saturday: 10-5 and Sunday: 1-5 pm. The display is located in the Main Lobby of the Stratford Library, 2203 Main Street in Stratford and will continue through April 2017.

      Stratford Library to Celebrate American Indian Music

      Author/Percussionist Craig Harris To Perform March 26

           The Stratford Library will present “An Introduction to American Indian Music” with author/percussionist Craig Harris on Sunday, March 26 at 2 pm. The afternoon is an exciting multimedia and participatory adult program about a fascinating indigenous culture. The program is free and open to the public.

           Driven by a passion for music, Craig Harris, author of The New Folk Music, The Band: Pioneers of Americana Music, and Heartbeat, Warble, and the Electric Powwow: American Indian Music, has covered the roots music scene for newspapers, magazines and music-oriented websites for more than four decades. A skilled hand drummer, he's appeared in concert and/or on recordings with Rod MacDonald and C.J. Chenier & His Red Hot Louisiana Zydeco Band and is currently a member of the Standing Bear Jam Band and the Gaea Star Band. Possessing a Master’s in education, Harris taught music in public and charter schools for a quarter of a century before launching his multicultural, participatory programs. Copies of his latest book will be available for purchase after the performance.

           “An Introduction to American Indian Music” will take place in the Lovell Room of the Stratford Library from 2-3 pm on March 26. Doors open at 1:30 pm. General seating. The concert is made possible by the Claudia McCoach Memorial Fund.
